Systems of society, participation and perception
Systems describes three interrelated perspectives within Florian Mehnert’s practice: Social Systems, Reference Systems and Perceptual Fields.
Archive of Possible Lives examines what happens when AI continues the narratives of our lives. In a walk-in archive, six drawers reveal fragments of a possible biography and turn identity into a field of unrealized possibilities.
Social Systems is the focus. Reference Systems and Perceptual Fields extend this practice through investigations of technical structures, perception and material. The three perspectives remain connected.
Social Systems
Social Systems is the main field of Florian Mehnert’s practice. Participatory installations, social sculptures and public experiments examine how technology, surveillance and collective behaviour shape freedom, privacy and responsibility.
02 / Reference Systems
Reference Systems
Reference Systems explores the often invisible structures through which we make sense of reality and orient ourselves within it. Coordinates, movement data and technological infrastructures are translated into line, light, image and space. The works give abstract relationships a sensory form and investigate how technical systems shape our perception and actions.
03 / Perceptual Fields
Perceptual Fields
Drawings, works on paper, paintings and image based works condense perception, attention and spatial order.
