Mixed media works on paper developed from a video work: moving leaf shadows become still images, traces and material fields.
Video still / Blätterschatten Moving
Blätterschatten Moving begins with a video observation of moving leaf shadows. Light, shadow, rhythm and surface form a temporary image that is never fixed in the moving work itself.
The paper works translate this temporal movement into still material form. The video image becomes a source for mixed media works in which shadow, trace and surface are condensed into a quiet visual field.
Within the archive, the series connects moving image, drawing and paper work. It shows how a fleeting perceptual situation can become a material image without losing its relation to time.
Video as source
The video work is shown here only as a still image. It functions as the visual origin of the series: a moment of moving light, translated into the slower material language of paper.
